I don’t know about you but the bathroom is one of the worst jobs in the house for me, so I’m always looking out for some good bathroom cleaning hacks.
I hate it. The trouble is, as the bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house and by its very nature quite unhygienic, it’s not a particularly nice job to do.
It used to take me over an hour to deep clean the bathroom properly each week which is ridiculous considering it’s the smallest room in the house!
But since making some simple changes, having better organisation and decluttering the space, my cleaning time has halved and deep cleans now take much less effort.
Don’t get me wrong it’s not perfect my husband likes to troll me by leaving beard trimmings on the sink and empty toilet roll tubes on the side, but it’s definitely not as bad as it used to be.
In fact, I now only deep clean the bathroom once every few weeks and maintain it in between by doing these few things.

The less stuff you have to clean around the quicker it’ll be to clean the bathroom.
Rather than moving bottles of product out of the way and having to clean the slimy residue from the side of the bath, you can quickly swipe the surface and you’re done.
A shower rack is great for keeping products up off the sides of the bath and allowing water to drain away properly. It also looks much tidier.
A toy scoop is great for tidying away kids bath toys and allowing them to dry out too.
Make sure you air the bathroom out every day, particularly after a bath or shower to allow the moisture to dry.
After you’ve had a shower, give the screen a quick wipe down to remove excess moisture and help the screen to dry streak free.
I like to use a window vac to dry the shower screen and tiles after use. Failing that, a squeegee will also do the job.
Keeping the bathroom dry helps to go longer between deep cleans, because it prevents streakage and moisture spots. And wiping the shower quickly after use helps prevent the build up of soap scum.

After you’ve had a bath or shower, hang the bath mat so that it can air out and dry.
Leaving it on the floor will make the room smell damp and is a breeding ground for mould.
Likewise with towels, hang them to dry after use.
You don’t need to use a new towel each time you shower, they can be used again before needing to be washed but only if they dry properly in between.
Don’t shove them bunched up down the radiator ensure that they are hung without any creases so that they can dry properly.
After you have used the sink, give it a quick swill to wash away any soapsuds or toothpaste etc. This will help it to dry streak free and go longer between deep cleans.
I’m still trying to drill this one into my husband’s brain, particularly after he has shaved but you can’t win them all!
Squirt some bleach or your toilet cleaner of choice down the toilet before bed and allow it sit overnight before flushing in the morning.
This will help to break down any dirt and bacteria making deep cleans much easier with less need to scrub.
These bathroom cleaning hacks don’t replace the need for a deep clean and of course, every few weeks I will spend a good amount of time giving everything a thorough going over.
But they do mean that deep cleans now need to be less frequent and that the bathroom stays looking clean during the times between.
